Mm yeh well i think hardcore umm err suffers the same problem, metalcore (which i hate), post-harcdore, rapcore, straight-edge core (something along the lines of that), etc. The funny thing is that apart from a few like metalcore alot of them are just the lyrics, like there would be some hardcore genre for Straight Edge people and then there would be another genre for skinheads... The only difference is that they have different beliefs and aing different genres.

Yeh did you like the album Neat Neat Neat... Also The Damned didn't stay punk for long they got into all this gothic stuff

That was quite funny.. I think Sabbath face the same problem The Clash do, except for wrong way around. A boy was listening to some of the more recent Clash calling it punk, i had a massive argument with him over it, i mean he was calling London Burning not punk and Sex Pistols not the real punk! Fortunately i proved it to him that he was wrong. And the Clash were punk and then went poppy. Ozzy faces the same thing hard rock then metal (with Dio and Ozzy solo)... So people then classify all the songs metal, as The Clash's songs are always classified punk.

Also i forget to mention did anyone like Echo and The Bunnymen

Yes :); I Certainly did like the album 'Neat neat Neat'; tracks like 'I Fall' and 'Stab Yor Back' were Classics of the 2 minute Punk Statement :D;
And yes; you are Correct; with the Break Ups of the Band; probably 5 in all; over a few years; new members were introduced; including Lemmy from Motorhead for a short while :P; and the Band became 'Musicians' as it were; releasing albums such as the Double 'Black Album'; though 'Curtain Call' lasting 10 minutes on that album is 'Symphonic' yet sends Shivers up my Spine each time I hear it;
I also liked Echo and the Bunnymen :);

AC/DC are an Australian rock band formed in Sydney in 1973 by brothers Malcolm and Angus Young.

:lol:

And Yeah I noticed that when I had to play their songs in GH: World Tour. All the songs on the setlist sounded the same. Very tiresome to play. Wow, we agree on something.

No, I'm quite right. You shouldn't be a fan if you can't even get the genre right.

Since when did being able to define a genre grant you permission to enjoy music created by a band you like? I couldn't name the genres for half the bands on my itunes list right now, it makes me no less of a fan of their music. And for you to say somebody is undeserving of being a fan merely because they can't slap a label on the artist they are listening, well, it just a little bit ridiculous.

Bands make music to be enjoyed, to be listened by anybody who likes that sound- not so people can put a genre on it and feel some sense of entitlement to it merely because they can say "Oh thats metal."

Yes, but you are not flaunting around saying it is what is isn't. You simply don't really care, and you also aren't saying it is something it isn't and refusing to be incorrect even when proven wrong.

Yes, but you simply don't care. You aren't flaunting around saying what something is when it isn't. And I also never said you had to define the genre, I was pointing out that he got the genre wrong. And yes, you need a correct genre or I could downright call Black Sabbath hip hop.

Re: Anyone else fans of punk and all its sub-genres (Hardcore) what band do you like?

i dislike the vast majority of punk music. my lasting opinion is that punk bands
1. have bad singers
2. get up their own ass with political statements
3. enjoy making noise more than music

but thats just my opinion, i feel that for the most part nothing worthwhile came from the '80s

You're joking, right? YOU GOTTA BE JOKING! :wacko:

The 80's, along with parts of the 70's and 60's, were the golden ages of "real" rock legends! The 80's saw the end of the "real" rock.

Not to mention that punk is all about those 3 things - the message (lyrics) being more imporatant than the technical finesse of sound, harmony etc...

Re: Anyone else fans of punk and all its sub-genres (Hardcore) what band do you like?

^Lyrics should be very meaningful, I rarely listen to music unless the Lyrics are either intellectual or very emotional. The only exception I make is Screamo/ Black MEtal

Ah I knew that was gonna happen. Sorry for the double post. Very bad connection I was having when I posted.

And lots of good things came from the 80's. Dunno what you're talking about.
