Building a Fable 3 Mods Database

Re: Building a Fable 3 Mods Database

Accessible is good. Like, ten-foot wide <10-degree slope accessible.

Re: Building a Fable 3 Mods Database

This may be late, but thanks for the answers.

Re: Building a Fable 3 Mods Database

I'll attempt modding if I get F3 on PC and Xbox.

Modding has always interested me, but I never got round to learning how to do it. Will Fable 3 modding be similar to TLC, with files and such, or will it be different due to technology gaps. Sorry if this sounds stupid, I just want to know if I can just read a TLC modding guide and apply it to Fable III. Again, sorry if its a bit stupid, I am new to this.
Unfortunately lionhead studios have started the game from scratch discarding their previous work, however they may use the same techniques the only way TLC skills will work is whether anyone creates a mod program set up like Fable explorer or Cbox.

Re: Building a Fable 3 Mods Database

how easy would it be to start modding from scratch?

im thinking of learning how to design characters and work with textures, but my only knowledge is small use of C4D and an average use of photoshop.

Re: Building a Fable 3 Mods Database

Well, im on the xbox 360. Im guessing the saves will be stored locally which will enable modding. High weapon damage, possiblly weapon building.

But ill just have to wait :)

Re: Building a Fable 3 Mods Database

No. I don't understand how this idea got started but a save hack is not modding
Ok yeh i get what you mean now. But to anyone on the console it IS modding, seeing as we cant get customised armour, areas and creatures etc on our games. As far as i know. Therefore modding weapon damage is the best we have really :(

Re: Building a Fable 3 Mods Database

^ Nope, you can get mods on consoles, they are still different to save hacking. Someone a while back said that the exp and money exploits were mods as well, but theyre different.

Re: Building a Fable 3 Mods Database

Well personally i think if theres modding for fable 3, the first mods should be a catchup from fable 2. Like reaver, and garth clothes and weapons or something.

Re: Building a Fable 3 Mods Database

Modding TLC wasnt to difficult and fable 2 didnt take that much time maybe fable 3 will be the same who knows cant wait

Re: Building a Fable 3 Mods Database

Well..i dont really get it.
fable 3 wont get out to pc like fable 2 right?
so how u make mod for it?

You missed the announcement. Fable 3 is to be released on PC.

Also, as far as we know, Fable 2 isn't going to be, or ever was.

Re: Building a Fable 3 Mods Database

Do we even know if they plan to release a toolset? If they do, this game is sure to attract the modding communities that exist for Oblivion, Fallout 3, and Dragon Age...all of which are huge! I'm more than a little excited to see what happens with this games as far as mods go. The devs have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Modding is one of the main reasons pc games stand head and shoulders above their console counterparts. Can't wait!!!

See, I'm really looking forward to hopefully seeing plenty of articles and 'how-to' guides being shared and helping newcomers to learn the basics nice and quick. There were some excellent articles written when we opened the Fable: TLC modding forum and they've been read, like, a bazillion times- I'm sure helping a ton of people understand how the different mechanics work and how to get started.

I think I would enjoy doing some Fable 3 modding (like simple texture mods) this time around. Markie begged me to do TLC modding due to my Photoshop abilities but my computer was lousy for TLC back then, which I felt bad about. So I'm looking forward to what the modding vets can do, hopefully it won't be terribly difficult to get things rolling for the community once the game releases.

Re: Building a Fable 3 Mods Database

I would love to mod but unfortunately, my laptop is terrible. If I get a computer or a new laptop, I'd get into it.

Also lovin' the Modder title.

Re: Building a Fable 3 Mods Database

I've been floating around the forum (mainly Fable 1 section) for a while and have seen things change over the course of the past few years. Reading the comments, I don't understand what people say when they were saying modding was easy. With probably no toolset to be released with Fable III, it will take years before one is made and debugged by the modding community before any mods will happen. And with a new engine and most likely a new file storage system, even the best of our modders (JohnDoe, jwc2200, OldBoy, morerunes IMO) will probably have trouble figuring this stuff out. As pessimistic as I am, I think that everybody should hold their horses.

Re: Building a Fable 3 Mods Database

I was pretty damn sure someone said Fable: TLC modding was easy. I'm going insane. I understand that I haven't been with Fable Modding long enough to even know the names of those who created Fable Explorer, but I'm certain that it must have been really hard work (kudos to them).

Glad to hear that the Fable 2 formats were figured out. I remember reading something about Lionhead being complete asses (for modders and crackers at least) about the file format and I underestimated "you", meaning "Hunter".
