Re: Chat Page

The times I was in there, it actually wasn't as disasterous as I thought it would be.

My position on this is always the same. I'll be alright with a staff-sanctioned chat that had at least one person of authority, either staff or staff representative, present at all active times of the day.

Without this, any chat is doomed to failure. Yes, I am now a doomsayer. I am saying doom. Doom.

I'm actually enjoying it. I fail to see how it can be disastrous to the forums.

It won't be disastrous to the forums, since it's hardly associated to the forums.
When I was on there was only one other person not from this forum lol.

...and I'm willing to bet that at least one person has already gotten butthurt in the chat.

Daemon. :P

Without a legitimate staff-sanctioned chat, staff-run chat, all order in the chat hangs on a very small hinge, and it's all over when it hits the fan. With someone like Steve or Drakan hosting the party, it would be official and we would still be following their rules - not hobbes_pwn's*.
When I was on there, there was little in the way of Fable being discussed, true, but that's not to say it turned into a subsidary of /b/ where goatse links were being thrown around. It was really funny.

Re: Chat Page

It would be a side thing, keep it off this site, those who want to join can join, as it stands now there isn't more than 5 people on within a few hours, Most I saw was 10 for about twenty minutes without much talking. It is very fun but definitely won't replace the forum.

Re: Chat Page

Yeah it's not bad but it's rare to have a long lasting convo. Everybody is always going AFK. Forum ftw.

The problem is that there is no definitive and supreme authority figure there. On the forums, we listen to the admins because they're the admins, and because Steve is a pretty cool guy who doesn't afr... that's getting old. On the chat, hobbes_pwn is in charge... why would anyone of the forums listen to hobbes_pwn* as the highest authority?

I think you'll find we listen to eachother more frequently than we listen to the admins or moderators - half the time it's you correcting someone or giving advice.

This forum is a fraternity, and we all respect eachothers opinions - the reason I believe the chatroom won't result in chaos is because everyone is actually working together to ensure it doesn't. Hobbes isn't the Captain of the ship, he's just in a way the first among equals.

Re: Chat Page

I was wondering if we could organize a time for all of us to try to go on.. So far Daemon has said 3-5 GMT and Firis had said 1-3 ET.

Personally Sundays in the UK or USA would be a good day.

I will do all the calculations later if people could reply to this

Re: Chat Page

I'm afraid I can only really go on on Saturday or Sundays. Monday was an exception just to try it out lol.

The one time I had popped in, I read through some hundred messages or so, all of them timestamped. It would be easy for me to put together a chart showing when the most activity happens based on all messages to date.

If it's not too much hard work, then thanks that would be great.
