Do I Need a New PC?

Alright, so here are my garbage computer specs. I just took a pic off of SRL because I don't know how to find all the info. And ignore all the green stuff and failure stuff, I was checking to see if I could run Oblivion.

Now tell me: Should I just update my GFX card or get a job for the summer and get a new computer?

Now say the most graphic intense game I was going to play was Oblivion, should I just upgrade?

Now if I wanted to play Fallout 3 I'd need a new computer. Much cheaper I'm guessing, right?

EDIT: Oh tits, the image is too small. Damn you photobucket! Alright I'll just write 'em down. Oh well. And I'm just gonna copy exactly what the image from SRL says:

Re: Do I Need a New PC?

Erm, maybe purchase a new video card and get the free driver update?

Re: Do I Need a New PC?

Yeah, I definitely need to do some HD clean up. 220g overall and I have like 6 left. And all from my brothers movies for his iPod. Goddamnit.

And thanks for all the comments and help. I have an old nVidia card around here somewhere... A few years old but it was like 3 millimeters too long and I couldn't get it in. RAWR.

Get an HD graphics card. Oblivion looks AMAZING with it. That, and Qarl's Texture Overhaul.
You might also consider getting more RAM too.

Geez, would it be better just to get a new PC?

And if my grahics things is a chip, then what the Christ is in the PCI slot? Sorry, I know very little about the guts of a computer. Don't laugh. I said NO.

I guess that would be good if you don't want to take it in to the shop to get the new stuff installed.
Maybe get a lap top. I love mine.

Re: Do I Need a New PC?

lol you have the same craptastic GFX card as me. except Im stuck with a laptop so I cant really update it. its a shame cuz the rest of it is just fine. I guess Il just save up and get a desktop.

Re: Do I Need a New PC?

no I didnt get oblivion, I got fallout but it wont work. :'( Im guessing oblivion wouldnt work either. Im thinking of taking it over to a computer shop and see if I can get it updated without selling my soul.

edit: ****! I called and no I cant. If I knew my computer would be so hard to update I would have never gotten it. grrr... guess Il just have to wait till I can get a new one.

Re: Do I Need a New PC?

If you decide to upgrade, check with this site for the video card and memory, and anything else you might need.

http://www.tigerdirect.com/

That is where I got my video card and some extra ram to run FTLC properly, they were cheaper than other sites including Ebay. Doing the work yourself is easy, I have never had any training and had no trouble doing the upgrade myself.
Good luck,
Jason

Re: Do I Need a New PC?

If your video card is integrated, that means it's a part of your motherboard. I believe you would have to get a new motherboard altogether to have it work with a video card that isn't integrated. Also, if your computer is old, let's say, before 2005, you would probably also need a new processing unit, as new motherboards aren't compatible with old processing units.

For shame. You might as well buy an empty computer tower, buy the parts and build a new computer. If you buy the parts separately, it's almost always more worth it than a pre-built one. Same money, double the specs.

Re: Do I Need a New PC?

Just do what ever last longer, or is cheaper.

If the card last quite awhile and it doesn't cost to much,
Then just get it.
Better than getting a computer, might cost more.
