Dreams

Dreams. Dreams are often ignored. Dreams are talked about for people to laugh at the oddity of the content of their dreams. I myself used to ignore my dreams, I decided to start ignoring them during high school, soon I stopped remembering my dreams and for years I was convinced that I don't dream....

Until I stumbled upon lucid dreaming, and figured I had trained myself to not remember my dreams(I even have a dream catcher :P ), but when I became obsessed with lucidity I started to ask.......

What is a dream?

Do any of you know what a Lucid dream is? Plenty of films have been released about lucid dreaming, to name a few; Inception, Waking Life.

What is Lucid dreaming?
--Lucid dreaming is the ability to control your dreams, having the knowledge that your dreaming, while your dreaming and take control.

Have any of you ever tried to lucid dream? Do you still do it? If not why not?

Someone once said to me, dreaming isn't that great, this was said to me by someone who was scared of their dreams, 'Too vivid' he claimed. Now I don't know anyone else who is scared of their dreams because they feel vivid.

A few months back I started to Train myself to Lucid dream, I'm still not there. I was inducting myself to the very basics of lucidity, dream recall. I never had much luck for a few weeks then I started taking vitamin B-6 every night.

First night I took 100MG, had a intense crazy long wild dream, following time after I moved to 200MG haven't had a dream as vivid as when I first took the B-6 but some other odd ones too, to name some; my dad ripping wings off my back (very painful vibration) seeing my cousin cut a girls hair very badly then decorate the stairs in tinsel and the hair, with the bald girl happy of course.

But the vitamins seemed to stop working, and I lost my dream recall. This was months ago, but 2 weeks ago my parents went away I've had the house to myself, so I wasn't getting interrupted.

My dream recall was through the roof, without the B-6. And I thought I'd set my training back up.

So what I'm asking is, does any body else lucid dream? Or are you trying?

If not then you can just discuss your dreams and nightmares, any re-occurring ones.

Does that interest you? If so then check this out for a more in depth guide

Re: Dreams

That's interesting actually, I haven't got any plans of what to do when I achieve lucidity on purpose :P

I've gained it by accident, was an owl once, staring down at some girls from a tree, it ended up with me swooping down and turning into a human again and having fun tiems, so to speak.

I have a dream journal but haven't wrote in it for a month, even with the dream recall I've been having, I just hope my dream recall stays up....but a good thing is the recall is passive and casual haven't been trying to force myself to remember, which is good.

Re: Dreams

I used to have trouble sleeping, so I never cared about anything like that because I was satisfied with whatever sleep I could get. Now I sleep just fine, but usually don't remember my dreams. I just enjoy the unconsciousness, sweet sweet unconsciousness. Sometimes I remember a dream long enough to remember that it was cool, but the fact that it was cool is the only thing I remember. A few times I have been aware enough to know that I was dreaming, and manipulate the dream to my liking, but usually this causes the dream to freeze like a DVD that won't read. The few times that it worked where pretty cool. But I'm to busy to put any effort into making my dreams lucid, it would be sweet though.

Re: Dreams

I have tried in the past to control dreams, I want to have fun dreams, sexy dreams and nightmarish dreams, I have found that the pills do work, but I would rather induced lucid dreaming naturally, the main way I have done that in the past is napping in the middle of the day, not long ones, 30 to 45 minutes. I have also tried micro-naps etc.

Re: Dreams

TJ! Ain't seen you in ages, sounds like your better at it than me, I've had about 3 lucid dreams in my life that I can remember.

Most others I' a hitch hiker along for the ride. But I find it worthwhile to change that, has anyone dreamt of a game?

I dreamt of a gow1 map pack last year, it was on a dock or something, really odd, I remember enjoying it haha saying how the pier was well thought out.

Made me sad when I woke up :(

Firis, I've tried that but I seem to be more effective when I'm really tired and have a long 3pm-12am sleep lol.

Re: Dreams

I have never really studied it, so I cannot actually control the dreams, it is just that I dream more prequentsly (About 65 - 75% of the time) when I nap then when I sleep (10 - 40%)

When I get my PC working I will look it up more to find out if I can.

Re: Dreams

I don't really tend to think about lucid dreams unless I have one, but my friends and I do talk about weird and crazy dreams we've had. If you're trying to have a lucid dream, just know that if you do something frequently while awake, it is more likely that you will do it during a dream. So this is what I would suggest:

1. Frequently ask yourself, "Am I dreaming?" even when you know damn well that you're awake. Hopefully you will involuntarily do this in your dream and realize that you're dreaming.

2. Frequently check lamps and light switches to make sure they work. If you do this in a dream, it will help you to know whether or not you are dreaming. I've heard that lighting in a dream cannot usually be changed, so if you try turning a light on or off and nothing happens, you might realize you're in a dream if you have this piece of information stored in your mind.

Or you could just go find some DMT.

EDIT: Seriously? Triple ninja'd? :ninja:

Re: Dreams

Aye reality checks, I don't think I'm up to that point yet, need to make sure my recall is stable.
But I'll pick that up soon hopefully.

Any body heard of an OBE?

Apparently out of body experiences are a advanced form, unsure if its real but apparently you feel a vibration and its more lifelike than dreams.

Re: Dreams

I'd be willing to try this, but the dream journal is an issue, and it seems a necessity as I can barely hold onto my dreams for more than a few hours, if I can at all. My mother is a terrible snoop, reading through my text messages and virtually anything I write down she tries to read. Now, if she got a hold of what I was dreaming about, she'd probably overreact or something. :(

That reminds me, I should delete my text messages. If I lock my phone she gets mad and says its also her business.

I've had the same problem tbh, my dad keeps snooping through my note books, and the and black mole skin one looked all to appealing to him.

I used to use it, but since then I haven't been using it, you should write in it as soon as you wake you really, if you cant remember it all just keywords and details.

I will have to start writing in it again, I only have about 4-5 dreams in it, but they are some of the oddest things ever :P

It takes patience, it wont come over night, it will takes months of continuous work and devotion, but even if you don't use it for learning lucid dreaming, its still great fun to note your dreams down and learn your dream scape and elements of your mind.

I've heard rumours of people being able to access hidden knowledge from their subconscious.

Edit: Alternatively you could have an online dream journal, or voice recorded, etc.

Re: Dreams

I sometimes Lucid dream. I remember controlling one dream I had, but I can't remember what exactly it was. I woke up smiling because I had a lot of fun...sleeping. I just thought I could always do it and I never noticed if I was capable all the time. How do you train to do it anyway?

Re: Dreams

Well I gave a link in the OP, but you start off with a dream journal.

And write down your dreams, this builds your dream recall, eventually when your dream recall is high enough you'll only note very obscure dreams down but at first every single dream.

Then you move onto Reality checks, which is testing to see if your awake, get into the habbit of it and you'll soon dream of a reality check, I.E look at clocks, read text, or hold your nose and try breathing through it.

Once you start dreaming of reality checks you'll get glimpses of lucid dreams, you may get false awakenings which make you believe you've waken up, this is the threshold of lucid dreaming once you get past this you should be quite capable of controlling your dreams.

Thats it in a nut shell, for more depth visit the site in the OP.

Re: Dreams

I was just under the impression that keeping a dream journal just helped with remembering dreams better. I had one before, and it worked, but I wasn't aware that it was used to help with lucid dreaming as well.

How can you get through each day without punching her in the face, or at least telling her to f*ck off? There isn't much in this world that would **** me off more than someone trying to read anything of mine that wasn't written meant to be viewed by their eyes. I even get mad at my friends for picking up my English notebook out of my backpack.

Latent dream content is crazy stuff. Some people don't even believe in it, but it is a pretty big subject among Freudians and psychoanalysts. I didn't believe in it until I heard an English teacher of mine explain it like this:

Every dream you have is inside of your own mind. You are creating each situation inside of your dreams. Your subconscious has a reason for making each thing in your dream the way it is. Every person, action, setting, etc. in your dream supposedly symbolizes or represents something about you or about situations in your life.

I'm not sure how well I explained that, and I still don't believe in all of that Freudian stuff, but I believe in certain parts of it to some extent.

Re: Dreams

I've always been amazed by the power of dreams, I heard on a documentary a few months back, that dreams could be your mind processing your daily memories sorting the important stuff to keep and scrapping the trivial.

But yeah people, animals objects are part of your mind in a dream, in later lucidity people talk in 3rd person when describing stuff, they talk about the people in their dreams like it were them selves.

Re: Dreams

I've dreamt lucidly before. Usually trying to turn the dream into a sexual encounter, but if hardly ever works. I had one lucid dream about a fortnight ago, and I could control it really well. I was flying around everywhere, it was mad.

Re: Dreams

I have lucid dreams every so often. I didn't even have to train myself to do so.

I remember the first time, too: I was hanging out with Simba from the Lion King and was just like "...wait."

You miss understand me and offend me. :'(

Anyone can have lucid dream, in fact if we remembered all of our dreams you'd see how uncommon it is. But to train yourself is to remember them and control them completely.

To train yourself is the way of the jedi........

Wrong thread, erm it just helps you be able to take any dream at all and turn it into a lucid one, instead of it happening by accident you force it to happen. I said in an earlier post that I've had lucid dreams before.........

Each dream lasts about 9 minutes, depending on how much sleep you get there's varying degrees on your chances, for someone who sleeps the 8 hours that's good. I usually go to to bed at 1-2am and wake up at 9-11am.

Most people have lucid Dreams during R.E.M time, which is rapid eye movement for the newbs, its where you dream the most intense, and when you remember most of your dreams.

Re: Dreams

well, i rarely remember dreams. they have to be vivid as hell, and then it takes a few moments of thinking to really grasp what the hell it was. i don't think i'd really want to 'take control' of my dreams either. they're a valuable view into your subconscious. with the proper thought process, they can help see how you really feel about something without the bull**** and confusion the conscious thought brings into making a decision or your opinions of something.

though, i do have a friend who has always been able to dream lucidly. he can study homework while he's asleep, yu yu hakusho style. it's ****ing insane, proven in a clinic and everything. i would give up just about anything to be able to study while i slept. lucky S.O.B. :realmad:
