How the heck do you make this!?

1. Start with a US dollar bill with the president facing down. Fold in half lengthwise. Unfold.

2. Fold the top and bottom edges towards the midline.

3. Valley fold in half crosswise. Unfold.

4. Fold the bottom right edge towards the midline, unfold. Repeat with left side.

5. Fold the top right edge towards the midline, unfold. Repeat with left side.

6. Mountain fold crosswise at the place where the creases intersect.

7. Bring the right side towards the left. Allow the paper to fold along the pre-creases. The paper should rise towards you at the • The fold is similar to a waterbomb base.

8. Valley fold the entire flap back to the right.

9. Fold the bottom and top edges a third of the way towards the center. This forms an arm with will be the band of the ring.

10. Repeat steps 7 - 9 with the left side. (Hint, to facilitate the next step, make one arm slightly larger than the other.)

11. Bring the left and right arms together and tuck one into the other.

12. Adjust the ring to size and press the insignia region to re-enforce the folds. Done.

This is driving me nuts! (That's what she said)

I keep getting stuck at step 7-9. What the heck are you supposed to do?

(Btw, I don't really care much about origami, I just thought it would be cool making the ring, but this is irritating the balls outta me.)

i don't know, but my friend whos laptop i'm on says he killed a day at work figuring it out, and it takes a long time.

folding it into a coyfish, however, proved to be too difficult.

Do they have to make the directions as complicated as possible? There has to be an easier to explain how to fold a piece of paper.

I might try it. But I need to Google a dollar bill's dimensions, because I am not going to waste a 5 dollar bill! Why the hell do we have loonies here??? WHY!? My wallet gets heavy and it hurts my ass when I sit down. But anyways...

I'm in a class I'm not really liking, so I might just cut a piece of paper out and try it.

EDIT: Okay, that was easy. The whole "waterbomb base" part gave it away. You see those 2 dots? As you fold it over the crease between those 2, bring those up, and they should meet in the middle, and if the meet, push down. If it works you should have a triangle on the end. If it does fold again where the triangle's base should be. Then fold it in half vertically. You should have half the ring done. If it works, repeat.

Our money doesn't fold very well. It's plastic, so it takes a while for a decent crease to form.

It's pretty though.

I'll give it a shot if I have some time. I almost made that koifish, but I estimated the size of a bill wrong, so the headspace at the end was too small and I couldn't fold it.

And they probably are, but I'm not wasting 5 bucks. :lol: And I think they want to turn 5 dollar bills to coins. I like my wallet, not a coinpurse. I want the dollar bill back.
