It's mainly Asians and Europeans. You know, the fully sick, subwoofer loving kind (I don't know if that stereotype is universal so forgive me).

Where about's in England is Staffordshire? I don't know much about the geography of that area; I only really know where London is. And Cornwall, but only coz of Robin Hood Defender of the Crown (good game, despite its lack of open endedness for a TBS).

Re: I hail from ____

Staffordshire is approximately 145 miles or so from London...and it's not far from Birmingham, if you've heard of there...

I thought the word "shire" is not used anymore until coming to this site.

Re: I hail from ____

We're all about the Shires - there are a lot of them, not including Shire Horses of course...I used to come from Buckinghamshire.

Re: I hail from ____

The funny part about all those "-shire"'s? I've noticed a bunch of them in the US, minus the "-shire."

Yes, I know why that is. It just kinda amuses me.

Re: I hail from ____

Did the English name the American parts where the names are identical or nearly identical or was it the other way around? Or was it someone else entirely?

Like we have New York, California, Birmingham, Hollywood etc...

Re: I hail from ____

Hollywood probably came to the UK from the US, though I'm not sure where you would have a Hollywood. Or why. The one over here came from a housing development called "Hollywoodland." They lost the land in a mudslide.

California-- not a clue. Originally it came from Spanish or Latin, but there are bunches of places named that by now. Even one in Maryland, where we always make dumb jokes about going.

Birmingham came from the UK to the US.

Wait-- the UK has a New York? I don't know-- I know that US-New York was renamed from New Amsterdam when the British took it; and that the guy who took it was the Duke of York. Aside from that, not a clue.

Re: I hail from ____

We've got a New York and an Old York - two parts of one city - York (obviously).

Hollywood is somewhere crappy I think...can't remember exactly. We also have Egypt, I believe...
