Re: I ****ing hate Father's Day

its fathers day? huh. luckily for me I dont have anyone I have to pay any attention to. my father can go *insert generic rude saying*. He knows our number, we dont know his, he knows where we live, we dont have a clue where he is. if he wanted to see his kids he has every legal right to. but he doesnt. and on the rare times that he does show up out of the blue I get to hear all the things that are wrong with me. **** that old man.

but happy fathers day to everyone else! :D

Re: I ****ing hate Father's Day

Ehehe, i'm sorry to hear that TJ. Peter sounds like an arse (Kidding, but I'm really sorry to hear that).

I'm sure which people to "side", nor do I think it serves any purpose for arguing here, it doesn't really matter anyway =\.

But I agree partially on both sides, I don't buy teddy bears for my dad, he'd give it to me small dog which would tear it up. Its' nice for him because a breakfast is made and served when he comes downstairs, better then the everyday breakfast. It doesn't take much to make my dad happy, but we basically get him things that he's wanted for a little while, like a screwdriver (actually one of the things he got). And I agree with Rheckameohs, in which I try to do a little something more than I usually do for my father.

In my opinion, Father's Day is a day for a father to relax, and for fathers that ran out on their family to hopefully understand that they're dickheads. It's just a little something for my dad to look forward to since he can just watch a game, but sadly, he's taking a nap because he has to work tomorrow (night-shift).

If you have a cruddy father, I'm truly sorry, but to bring that down on everybody else doesn't seem like the right thing to do.

Fifty? When were you born? In his 30s? 40s?

Re: I ****ing hate Father's Day

That might be part of my depression actually........ but not near all of it, I had it before he died, my mom also move away, it was only a three hour drive each way, but we didn't have enough time or money to make many trips that far, also I hated when I wasn't the only child anymore.

Whats wrong with having a brother/sister?

Re: I ****ing hate Father's Day

I had to work today, so i brought my dad down to the station to hang out, we grilled anyway and he had a good time laughing with the crews. so all in all not too bad considering. I still feel like i should spend some one on one time with him though.

Re: I ****ing hate Father's Day

Appreciate people while you have them. Although holidays become commercialized and used as a means to increase sells, it doesn't undo the important, genuine reasoning behind the holiday. Holidays (most of them) are not designed to sell to us, but to remind us. Sometimes we forget what's important in life because of how busy life can become.
Yes you should appreciate people regardless of the day, I do agree with that.

Re: I ****ing hate Father's Day

I consider myself lucky I don't have to bother with Father's Day - my dad doesn't even live in the same country, can't see and has no idea father's day even exists so it saves me a packet in half-hearted gifting each year.

Hell, I don't even have to bother with birthdays...

I've never really seen the point in it anyway - it's seems to be more about giving presents like it's a birthday or Christmas than it does saying thanks for being a father. Any moron can become a father - just ask the first chav you come along outside a discount off-licence.

*Gasp!* How could your dad not know Father's Day exists?!

My dad and my brother opened his presents without me when I was asleep. I wake up later having completyely forgotten it's father's day, go down and have breakfast, nobody mentiosn anything. Five minutes ago I remembered, ran into the house ot my brother like "OH **** WE FORGOT FATHER'S DAY" and he's ****ing gloating at me about how I missed everything. I haven't even had a chance to wish Dad a happy father's day or give him a hug because he's gone out. I feel really ****ing guilty even though I know it's not ym fault.
Punch your brother in the face.

He's barely aware of when my birthday is, let alone some pointless celebration aimed at selling as many Hallmark cards as possible.

They have a Father's Day in Russia but it's a completely different thing altogether and is celebrated in February. I think so long as my dad can get hammered and spend three weeks up to his eyeballs in vodka and badly cooked shashlik, he's not fussed what sort of holiday it is or whether anyone else is celebrating it.

Re: I ****ing hate Father's Day

Aw, I am sorry. Get him a card anyway, and give it to him. Just say it's belated, and give it to him with the hug.:)

Re: I ****ing hate Father's Day

I don`t care much about holidays either. I even forget people`s birthdays, although I try not to, for others sake.

Yeah, shashlik ( šašlõkk -Est.) sure is great, ate a lot of it today and yesterday. We`re having one of our most important holidays today. Don`t ask me what it is exactly, I know it`s the longest day (as in daylight) in the year, the Sun never truly sets.

Christmas originally was a time to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ

Actually Christmas was originally a pagan holiday, ancient Roman`s Saturnalia festival, which christians took over to win over the pagan masses.
And it probably was some "birth of Sun" holiday even earlier.

Haha, I always forget my families birthdays every year.
