Meaning of Life?

So, what is the meannig of life? And don't mention the film. Or, say '42.' I want the actual meaning of life. The answer to life, the universe and everything. The very reason we were put on Earth. WHY?

Yeah. So, what is it?

Re: Meaning of Life?

The meaning of life is to ease the suffering of other forms of life, why were they created? Because the Earth likes to get massaged by a bunch of walking critters.

Re: Meaning of Life?

You don't exist. This is all just a dream.

A dream.

A DREAM.

A DREAM

A DREAM

A DREAM

Re: Meaning of Life?

Everyone has their own meaning in life. Whether you'll have a huge impact on the world or none at all, only you can know what your meaning is.

That was probably the cheesiest thing I've ever typed.

Re: Meaning of Life?

Meaning is a confusing word when it comes to this... Life's dictionary meaning is more or less: The state of being alive.

The purpose of life on the other hand, is pretty easy. Put simply, there isn't one. Life is just an accident that happened on a meaningless rock floating around a meaningless star. We should just make the most of it.

Re: Meaning of Life?

  • a characteristic state or mode of living; "social life"; "city life"; "real life"
  • the experience of being alive; the course of human events and activities; "he could no longer cope with the complexities of life"
  • the course of existence of an individual; the actions and events that occur in living; "he hoped for a new life in Australia"; "he wanted to live his own life without interference from others"
  • animation: the condition of living or the state of being alive; "while there's life there's hope"; "life depends on many chemical and physical processes"
  • the period during which something is functional (as between birth and death); "the battery had a short life"; "he lived a long and happy life"
  • the period between birth and the present time; "I have known him all his life"
  • the period from the present until death; "he appointed himself emperor for life"
  • a living person; "his heroism saved a life"
  • liveliness: animation and energy in action or expression; "it was a heavy play and the actors tried in vain to give life to it"
  • living things collectively; "the oceans are teeming with life"
  • the organic phenomenon that distinguishes living organisms from nonliving ones; "there is no life on the moon"
  • biography: an account of the series of events making up a person's life
  • a motive for living; "pottery was his life"
  • life sentence: a prison term lasting as long as the prisoner lives; "he got life for killing the guard"

Re: Meaning of Life?

Technically speaking the meaning of life would be to die. Because life is like a journey and the purpose of a journey is to reach the end destination, and for us humans the end would be death.

For most of us, anyways.

Re: Meaning of Life?

Naw, for all of us. You are born and you die, those are the only certainties in life. If you're religious and believe in some sort of afterlife doesn't matter since "the meaning of life" applies only to your earthly existence.
