Mountain Dew Addiction

Here's my story:

I went to the doctors office for my checkup today and my blood pressure was 153 over 75, and I'm 14, I am also overwieght, 220 pounds or so. I have been getting tons of nose bleeds and headaches, and my doctor said it was about 60% because of the mountain dew, therefore I must kick the habit, and this is where you guys come in.

I need a satisfying alternative without caffiene, carbonation, or a lot of sugar, and I have been told finely crushed ice replaces the carbonation, so, that may cover that part, all I need is something for the taste.

I would really apreciate any solid help.

And if you're lucky I'll give you +rep

Re: Mountain Dew Addiction

I hear cigarettes are good.

Seriously though, I don't know why you can't kick the habit cold turkey. Getting addicted to something else is just illogical to me.

Re: Mountain Dew Addiction

Chew the inside of your mouth  It's what I do when I'm bored so it might help you to get over the urge of drowning yourself in the Dew.

Re: Mountain Dew Addiction

When I tried to give up coca cola, I replaced it with milk, which actualy works if you have the will power. try chewing gum aswel :s Works with smoking why can't it work with soda addicitions.

Re: Mountain Dew Addiction

Go outside, Go away, Sleep outside (camp).. Keeps you fit, Mind off the dew, Gets you in a state of mind too.

No down falls.

(Now some wise crack will write some down falls to it)

Re: Mountain Dew Addiction

^Wise crack to the rescue!!! The outdoors are smelly dirty and bug infested, I am addicted to soda as well, I drink pop daily, usually Coke, Mountain Dew and Root Beer... My advice? I quit once, it was fairly easy, step 1: Don't buy it, don't even go to the store with your mom, if you see it, you'll crave it. Step 2: Whenever you get the urge to drink pop, take down some juice or water, water is good, tastes bland to you? Buy some Drink Mix, Drink Mix doesn't taste awesome, but it tastes good and is easy to make. Step 3: Once the addiction is broken (Don't drink for about 6 months) Then you can have soda every few days to a week, just keep away from the highly caffeinated and sugary ones like MD and Vault... I should probably join you.

Re: Mountain Dew Addiction

If you can't stand plain water, flavoured water is a good alternative - tastes nice, you don't have to have it carbonated and it's low in everything that's bad for you.

Re: Mountain Dew Addiction

Just keep it out of your house. Out of sight, out of mind.
Also, you might want to start working out or something because that alone will encourage you to drink more water.

Re: Mountain Dew Addiction

Take Dewinator out of your user title, there's a start.

This.

Not to bring up my whole medical situation, lets just say I have a certain condition and due to that I can no longer drink common drinkables like milk or juice. But I replaced it all with carbonated and flavoured water and it is OK. Not terribly good, or bad. Just... OK.

Re: Mountain Dew Addiction

Regular exercise might also reduce your desire to drink crap - the natural high might become a more suitable alternative to the artificial one you get from the drink. Plus it'll do your health issues the world of good ;)

That's sad. No more milk?

Re: Mountain Dew Addiction

That you all for your help!!!!! And I'm not trying to replace it with another addiction, I just want something healthy(ish) that I can drink to satisfy my md cravings for a while until the addiction goes away, and it can't be caffienated. I don't drink smoke or do drugs, and shame on anyone that does. Unless you are 21+ and the object is drinking, then every once in a while it's okay.

Re: Mountain Dew Addiction

Once again, try decaf coffee. It doesn't have caffeine, sugar, or is carbonated (as least, to my knowledge. I drink soda instead of coffee)
