Its good, if he can put the money towards education then that can hopefully help alot more people become smart, get a good job, degree, means to support a family.
Or for better research: I am a firm believer in the theory that if we perfect cloning, and allow stem cell research we can cure and do MANY things. Imagine never running out of food, of replacing your kidney with a PERFECT match and the paralyzed able to walk again. Then again that would mess of societies values (Are clones people? Exc)
I think someone already said this, but I'm too lazy to scan back. But, what if it is the students and not the education system itself? Why waste money on people unwilling to learn?
Like the province Alberta, Premier Ralph Klein. I think that is how you spell his name, anyways. But he cut down on education funds many many years ago. The overall student averages etc. remained almost unchanged, and he brought the province so far out of debt that every single citizen of Alberta recieved $400 dollars. I still have about $300 of it stashed away and I'm not allowed to touch it.
But hey, it is about making the people happy, not making the right or wrong decisions. Or else you won't be around long enough to make the right decisions.
As you may know, no other industry in the U.S. has had to reduce its workforce as much as the construction industry, which is the largest USA employer.
Associated General Contractors (AGC.org) reported, "Construction Unemployment Rate Hits 27.1% as another 64,000 Construction Workers Lost Jobs in February 2010, according to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (http://newsletters.agc.org/datadigest/2010/03/0...)
As the industry collapses, a group of UNEMPLOYED construction recruiters have now created three Obama Spoof videos on YouTube.com at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VKaLdKzc1ak titled "Job Nazi," (a spin off of Seinfeld's "Soup Nazi," but with "No JOB for You!)"
We tried not to make it offensive, only humorous to give the folks in our industry a laugh while they cry.
I think Obama should leave a bit of money to fund for that camera that could pick out possible planets with similar weather to earth (I forget the name). Eventually earth will run out of resources, I don't think it will be too soon but still better to be prepared.
As for moon bases, they are useless. Obama has done the right thing. Unlike Rudd.
Well im sure most of you Americans already know that Obama has told that he is cutting NASA funds to save about 8 billion dollars to be put toward education. http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=985_1199481144 (Not so sure how accurate those numbers are)
Now NASA has given us some major medical, and technological advances and now it seems Obama is shutting this all down to "Help the Children" just as he wished to "Help the Homeless" (In which he just gave them money rather then the means to help themselves)
"Barack Obama's early education and K-12 plan package costs about $18 billion per year. He will maintain fiscal responsibility and prevent an increase in the deficit by offsetting cuts and revenue sources in other parts of the government. The early education plan will be paid for by delaying the NASA Constellation Program for five years, using purchase cards and negotiating power of the government to reduce costs of standardized procurement, auctioning surplus federal property, and reducing the erroneous payments identified by the Government Accountability Office, and closing the CEO pay deductibility loophole. The rest of the plan will be funded using a small portion of the savings associated with fighting the war in Iraq." (highlight added)
Now it may be only for 5 years but for the mean while we will be dependent on foreign country relations such as Russia in man flight to help repair and launch are numerous satellites.
Anyways Comments/debates as to whether this is a wise or odd choice?
P.S. I'm not "hating" on Obama or anything to be honest i didn't like either candidate's and hope that in the next election a smarter president will come forward, god knows America needs one.
I agreed with cutting off NASA's funds because there's really no point in spending millions and billions just to send someone to the moon or to send a rover to a planet or send someone inn space to rover around the planet, the money is better on Earth. But shutting down NASA completely? I don't agree with. NASA after all is the group that did get us into space, they've helped with huge medical sciences, missile defense systems, the list goes on. So there's no need to cut off their research and experiments on Earth just so every child can be on the same level of education as the next. It's not possible, it can't be done. Just like Socialism and Communism NEVER works, it always tries to put everyone on the same level, it CAN'T BE DONE, it will collapse, just like every Communist and Socialist country out there, just like Greece.
This is obviously not a good idea in the long run. This ****ing guys got something up his sleeve. Hes attacking americas achilles heel and hes got an ace in the hole, which is his position as president of the united states.

NASA's biggest benefit for us appears to be technology, if so we'd be better off having the private sector deal with things, which would be more cost-effective. Shutting NASA down or even space exploration entirely would be unnecessary.
