Opinions?

Re: Opinions?

Hmm, well he has several explorers, so he probably uses both.

Whoo he loves zakk wylde too!:D

BTW how long have you been playing and what is the hardest thing you can play, you should upload a vid I can actually hear you in.

Re: Opinions?

The hardest thing? (that's what she said)

Hmm. Either Cliffs of Dover by Eric Johnson or Seven (really sloppy though) by Necrophagist.

I've been playing for 3 1/2 years, 4 this may.

Re: Opinions?

That's the thing I hate about metal. There's no finesse. It's all about how many notes you can fit into a bar. Quality over quantity, guys.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAA-

Re: Opinions?

Indeed. That's a pretty laughable statement, Arseface.

Re: Opinions?

*finally stops laughing* Where's the minus rep button when you need it? *giggle*

Re: Opinions?

What? I don't understand why I'm being laughed at.

Re: Opinions?

Your statement about guitar play in metal is more about quantity than quality. I don't know what sort of half-arsed(pun!) garage bands you've been listening to, but that is blatantly untrue.

Re: Opinions?

One of the primary aspects of metal music is playing fast, that is a fact. I'm not saying that these musicians are unskilled - it certainly requires a lot of practice to be able to play like that, but I think that substituting some notes for a bit of vibrato and sustain would be better. I want to savour each note, not have a whole bunch of them thrown at my face.

Just an opinion, but I feel like being deliberately argumentative.

Re: Opinions?

You're probably listening to the wrong kind of metal, then. Metal as a genre is about as diverse as music as a whole. Take, for example, Metallica's non-thrash metal songs. I.e Fade to Black or The Unforgiven.

Re: Opinions?

Every kind of metal I've heard has had at least one instrument being played fast. Usually it's guitar.

Re: Opinions?

There's a big difference between "playing an instrument fast" and going "quantity over quality"...

Re: Opinions?

Yeah, but they're linked. I like to savour the music, not have it rush past me. It's like what Ferris Bueler says.

Re: Opinions?

Ever heard doom metal before? Drone metal? Folk metal?

A lot of folk metal is simplistic, and doom metal is very slow and droning.

Apart from that, you're just listening to the mainstream rubbish and assuming all metal is angry men bashing their instruments in masks.

No they are not. You don't like fast-playing music, fine. But you shouldn't draw parallells like. In no way do they sacrifice quality for quantity.

Or maybe you're just too slow in the head for metal, lawl?

I kid, I kid 'cause I love.

Re: Opinions?

Either way, I see most metal as having a gimmick of some kind. Maybe that's just because I don't like the genre though. I think a lot of it is just being different for the sake of being different.

Re: Opinions?

Most likely. I absolutely loathe Rap/Hip-Hop and it all sounds the same to me.

Re: Opinions?

Explain the funeral doom metal scene then, Arseface.

That's just as metal as any other metal band.
