Social Interactions Are... "Liberal"

Maybe I just haven't figured it out yet but how do I SELECT the social interaction I take when interacting with a villager. For example, I meet Bob the Blacksmith and want to make friends with him but the FIRST and only interaction available to me is to dance with him. I refuse to do this because the dance ends with me either kissing his hand or holding him high into the air. That just ain't me and I'd appreciate being able to simple avoid doing this and using the old fashioned HAND SHAKE.

I was afraid of this being an issue but this is just ridiculous. Then again, maybe there is a button I just don't know to change the interaction? Please.
 
alternatively, you can cancel the interaction, then start again with a different interaction
 
Come on, it's just a game, it's not like you're really doing it :L. Just dance with the guy xD.
 
Seems annoying, I don't like doing things my character wouldn't do either. :ermm:
Like being the Chieftain's pawn in Knothole Island and doing his bidding without payment or thanks. My Butcher would've just killed the guy for talking to him like that. Standard
 
I know how you feel. I'm annoyed how it keeps reading my girlfriend's save game and keeps telling me about my mother when I had nothing but male characters. I even put all my saved games onto my memory card and it still says my mother. It's the little things that annoy the crap out of you. I wouldn't wanna dance with another dude either.

Anyways, I don't want to "just dance with the guy"! I liked having the freedom to select what interactions I had with people like in the previous Fables and canceling the interaction usually doesn't switch the action. Why didn't they just assign different interactions to the different buttons or, better yet, give us the right bumper to select which option we wanted to select like in Fable 2?

I just don't understand how they can take such large leaps back in terms of gameplay design. Fable 2 hit many things right and then they remove them in Fable 3.

I wanted to walk around and shake people's hands to get followers, not dance with them. It's kinda ruining the immersion.

Anyways, I do hope they address this, it'd be an easy fix. Frankly, I cannot believe that it was released like this.
 
Frankly I cannot see why it's such a big deal.

I don't like the thought of that either, but I heard you get more expression from some of the chests on the Road to Rule, so try upgrading your emotions...

Or just act like a pansy and refuse to play pattycake with Slappy the Gay Trader. Either works.
 
This is an interesting peeve. But there is no avoiding it. Sorry, Holmes.
 
I hate having to dance with shopkeepers to haggle the prices down. What is this...?
 
The game is supposed to be funny and light hearted outside of the story line. If you don't want to dance with him, fart on his head instead, then shake his hand fraternity style. If you don't want to kiss him, flap chicken wings at him instead, then whistle.

I agree that there is certainly something to be said for the ribald, good-natured humor of letting go of inhibitions and being ridiculous in-game. But isn't Fable, as a franchise, also about having control over your character's destiny? Shaping not only their appearance and reputation, but also their personality? I must agree with James009 that to limit the player's control over interactions and force him to do things that don't bear with his character defies the spirit of individuality that supposedly defines the game.

I also hope they patch this feature to provide greater control. Fable II handled interactions right, and to reduce their precision in the name of streamlining, I think, takes the game further away from the personalized experience Lionhead wanted it to be.
 
I dislike having to interact with villagers indivdually. I want to pose for ten at once not one at a time!

Oh man, it's really one-on-one this time around? I mean sure it got annoying when dozens of villagers would crowd around you in Fable II and make a huge ruckus (actually I rather liked that...), but it really saved time to be able to wow/woo so many people at once. Not to mention it's kind of realistic if you're that famous.

THANK YOU, Sir Robin. I thought I was out of my mind and the only one irritated by this.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the lighhartedness of the franchise and I think that Fable 3 has some of the best dialogue and mission texts of the series. That being said, I want MORE control of my character and his actions rather then less. I do hope that Lionhead will provide us with some significant patches to fix the glitches and I don't think it'd be that difficult to patch in a change to the social interaction system that incorporates all the buttons or a variety of options.

Also, just like I don't want to dance with a store owner I really would rather not fart on their head or belch at them especially considering the game tracks EVERYTHING you do and can morph you or your weapons for it. Frankly, I start to get afraid that after dancing with all these people my character is going to start to look like one of the male hookers. I just want to make a few friends...

All that being said, Lionhead is known for delivering good patches for their products. However, I hope they take less steps back when addressing issues in their games and I want to get my hands on the people who did the Fable 2 research on how people played it.
