Why would we make a section of the forum that goes against one of our most basic rules? Just like the rule against spamming, the rule against swearing is universal across the boards.

Jeez, we've been over this countless times. The language filter isn't going anywhere.

Ever.

First of all, if I were to say "**** you", everyone who hasnt been incredibly sheltered from the outside world knows what that stared out word is. Secondly, if the filter were lifted people would be more inclined to swear and the forum would loose a lot of its "class" (not sure if thats the right word to be useing, but you get it right?) which would be sad. Finally, if the filter were removed the forums would be found by spam bots (as if we dont get enough of those already) that serch for those words, and the site would be bombarded with "**** hot girls in your area tonight!" and tons of porn spam. That would be incredibly annoying.

If one really wants to use those words without them being filtered, simply go somewhere where its allowed.

Let's sum this up in an easy-to-read post.

• Spam forum:
  • we already have the off-topic forum;
  • as bad as the off-topic forum is, spam is worse;
  • spam is bad, m'kay?
• Disabling censorship/censorless forum:
  • would forward and fortify trolling and flaming;
  • spam bots pick up on key words and swarm;
  • excessive use of the word "shit" doesn't promote an intelligent exchange of discussion.

In short, we don't want the forums to decompose into a cesspool of idiocy.

You can go to any site with overly relaxed rules, where spam, flaming and trolling is ignored by staff, where there is no censorship, and to top it off, where there is a disregard of law, and you'll quickly see what I'm talking about. Even if they can outwit the spambots, they still have stupid humans plaguing the boards. It's actually a sad thing to see, especially if you're attached to the forum infested with flaming morons.
