So, has anyone else seen it? I went to its midnight premiere, and I really loved it. I mean, the first three movies were definitely amazing, but this one gave me a better feel for what the world is like, and that's an absolute necessity for me if I'm going to really get into a series. And this movie also made me really like dwarves. I mean, Gimli was great in the first trilogy as a comic relief character, but he fought with kind of a brute strength-type style, whereas Thorin and his dwarves fought with more finesse and skill, which is much more awesome and fun to watch. And speaking of Thorin, I don't know what it is about him besides the way he looks, but I love him. They designed him extremely well, and he just looks so god damn cool. It was also cool to see a third wizard.

So, for those of you who have seen it, what do you guys think about it?

Would love to see it since it's the goddamn Hobbit, but I hate going to movie theaters.. never fun for me. Kids kicking seats and giggling, people chattering in the background, and there's always that one clown that likes to mention all the awesome parts coming up.

So I'm gonna wait till the home release, like I always do.

Hate movie theaters myself, for all the reasons you mentioned also the fact that it's difficult to grab a decent seat 75% of the time. Not to mention how deafening my local cinema is, the volume is just overkill.

Yeah...as much as I love the book I'm going to sit this one out and wait for the home release too.

I saw this the other night, it was awesome but too drawn out in my opinion. It was 3 freaking hours when it could have been half that. Also I don't think I'm a fan of the 48fps they shot the film in. Looked like it was all CGI or something, just looked a bit out of touch.

Besides that it was enjoyable, and I'm sure when I see it again I won't be scrutinising it so hard and I'll enjoy it more.

Similar to Drakan i'm seeing it on Thursday, can't wait. The Hobbit has always been one of my favourite books so it will be nice to see how they adapted it for a film.

I saw it, I saw it at midnight.

I'd always thought Radagast was really cool, just from the little mentions in the books, and I hated the way they did him for the movie,

But it was pretty great.

I did love it, I'm a fan of anything related to LOTR or The Hobbit. I'll always prefer LOTR because they're a big part of my childhood but I'll be eagerly waiting to see the next two films.

I went mid-day on Monday and had the theater all to myself. It was awesome, my own little private screening.

And it was amazing. It has a much different feel than LotR did, because the doom and gloom has yet to settle down on the world. It's also funny because Gandalf uses more magic in the first Hobbit film than he does in the entire LotR trilogy.

I almost never see movies in theaters either. In fact, this is the first time I've been in years. I never have a bad experience though. It's just the price that keeps me away. For The Hobbit though, my girlfriend is a huge fan of the LOTR trilogy, and she and some of our friends wanted to go, so I went. She ended up not liking it though, which was really weird to me because it just made me like the series more. She said the dialogue wasn't as good and that the CGI for stuff like the orcs was crappy. She's always too critical of movies though.

For me, they didn't really show enough of him for me to formulate a complete opinion of him, but I liked what I saw. I think that's probably just because I haven't read any of the LOTR books or The Hobbit, so I didn't have an idea of what he should be like in my head, and because I've just always wanted to see some wizards aside from Gandalf and Count Dooku.

A) Read the books. B) Tolkien doesn't really describe him in any of the books. C) They made him a comedic stoner with literal birdshit dripping down his face. WTF.

No. "C)" was the things that ****ed me off. The bird **** part was wrong. WHY THE **** WAS THERE BIRD **** ON THE MAN'S FACE?
