Finally, a Good Model

So, I'm just gonna be quick about this and say that Alex sent me this reference of a sword and I put it in 3ds and ACTUALLY completed it, and it doesn't look half bad. Just wanted to show you guys and see what you think. Spent all of Sunday doing it. At least I did something productive.

I know, useless thread, but I was actually quite happy with the results of this model compared to my other simpler ones. The hilt was a helluva pain. :P

So whatdya think?

Re: Finally, a Good Model

+rep for the pep.

Re: Finally, a Good Model

Nice one. I made a very basic sword using Milkshape, cause I can't afford 3ds. That's better than I can do.

Re: Finally, a Good Model

Oh, foo. I got so into this thing I forgot about texturing. Just lost all my motivation.

Re: Finally, a Good Model

If you sent me a texture with basic colours in it I would be happy to exclusively make one for you.

That is, only if you would like me to.

Re: Finally, a Good Model

Very nice. I can't do anything like that.

So are you going to do anything with it? Mod it into Fable or something like that?

Re: Finally, a Good Model

If the blade were a tad longer and the curve a bit less pronounced I'd enjoy it more.

That's what she said! :P

Good work on that. All I ever made when I took the class for 3d Studio MAX was a steam powered locomotive.... didn't get to do any weapons.:'(

Re: Finally, a Good Model

You make me mad since there aren't any hot models :realmad:

Anyway, nice job :sly:

Re: Finally, a Good Model

Thanks guys. :)

And droded, if you would like to I'll try map it out a bit later.

If all goes smoothly, I'll try to get it into Fable. I'm not sure how many submeshes I can break it up into for it to work in Fable, besides the usual 2. And does anyone have any knowledge on how to only have to map one side of a symmetrical object and have it apply to both? I have no flippin' clue and it would save buttloads of space on the UVW map to add more detail to the texture.

Anyone?

And I really don't like the large blade either, but I'm trying to stay true to the reference Alex gave me. Except the pommel. It just didn't look right no matter how I did it...

Re: Finally, a Good Model

Good job Kyle! I'm *sniff* so proud.

Re: Finally, a Good Model

I thought this was going to be about the Miss Universe competition or something.

Good model though.

Re: Finally, a Good Model

So did I! That's real cool! model of couse (da!)!

Re: Finally, a Good Model

Cool. I agree with Tyloric but it`s ok if you wanted it that way.

Re: Finally, a Good Model

I really don't like the pronounced blade either. I just don't like to venture too far from the original reference. I'll get carried away and it will look even worse.
