The UK celebrating July 4th is like Germany celebrating World War 2.
We don't exactly celebrate things we lost in.

Um. Wow. Did you just compare your own country to Nazis? That's... a little extreme. (EDIT: I mean, I'm pretty sure you're a Brit. And even if you're a Canuck, well. I mean, you still share a head of state and all that ****. Formally you're still the UK's territory. Or the queen's, anyway. I don't know or care. EDIT2: But I'm damn sure you're a Brit, because I seem to remember already having that conversation.)
Here's a better analogy: it's like the French celebrating Cinco de Mayo! Or the Spanish celebrating whatever-the-****-day-is-Mexico's-independence-day!

The only good thing about you guys having had a war of independence is that you don't have to compete in the Commonwealth Games. It's like a family reunion, and nobody likes those.

I know, right? Then we'd probably have to play that cricket ****, and it'd just be so damn boring and awkward. Damn, these people think this game is FUN? What's wrong with them?
On the other hand, it would be kinda entertaining to see our team comprised entirely of Carribbean, South Asian, and British immigrants playing.

They don't play Cricket in the Commonwealth games. They should, but they don't. Twenty20 games would work brilliantly.
And backyard cricket is one of the best games you can play, full stop.
