Language Filter

Do we really need it?

I vote: no

I believe if I had gone onto a forum at the tender young age of 15, 13, even 11 and saw some swear-words then my fragile developing little brain may still of been able to deal with it.

Besides any young people on this site probably flick straight to a website entitled bigblacklovin, luscious-mommas or 1chick7studs after their post anyway. So why not let them read some swearwords, perhaps still filter the worst 2 common ones though.

Re: Language Filter

I believe that it really doesn't matter. If anything, there should be a choice whether or not you want the filter. I don't see why people have to type with vulgarity anyway, we're all (mostly...) mature on here and we really don't need to make everything we type all trashy-like.

Re: Language Filter

15..? 13 maybe but 15? Thats nearly half way through the teens and nearly every 15 year old knows at least 99.9 recurring % of the swear words out there.

I voted for the third option. Noone swears that much anyway and there already is a filter. Even if people do read swear words, who actually cares? It wont hurt anyone.

/One handed rant while I eat some poppets toffees.

Fair enough, but I'm pretty sure I can't even say arse or bloody. Being a mature Englishman I would like to be able to say these things without people just seeing *'s and assuming i said the F or C word.

btw if they were in fact *'d out the first one was
ar$e the; second bl00dy

oh they aren't *'d out :)

I'm sure those words were for some reason.
Probably wouldn't of made this thread if I knew that lol.

I still would like to say **** though

Re: Language Filter

Oh I don't mean to act like we need the language filter to protect anyone because obviously if we've gotten this far on the internet, we're a fairly intelligent and well-informed bunch in the world of vulgarity. I just meant that it's unnecessary when people need to spam swears to seem more mature or something.
The filtering system deters pointless members because they're not going to have much of an effect if their post reads:
**** **** *** **** n shuv it up ur *** you ugli **** lolz.
It just raises the bar a little to have it bleeped out and allows for more refined conversation.

Re: Language Filter

This rule is probably never going to change, and I'd be happy if it didn't. It's the maintainers decision.

Re: Language Filter

I dont think its going anywhere. Swearing doesnt bother me, but there are some that dont want to see it and they shouldnt have to. besides if I were to say "go **** yourself", everyone knows what that stared out word is anyway. and with a filter it detures the people that would want to spam **** **** **** **** **** **** **** all the time.

if the filter were removed, people would think they are allowed to swear all they want and would be more inclined to. then the forum kind of looses some of its "class". I dont think thats quite the right word, but you know what I mean.

This is just dumb.
In my opinion, we should have the language filter so we don't have to deal with dumb ass 12 year olds thinking that cussing makes them cool.
And, almost no one cusses anyways. Only the 'tards that sign up for 2 days worth.

You've never been to a Californian middle school, eh?
