Damn it Xbox fix this error on your consoles!

Thats what the Falcon chip set is for so measures have been taken, its just lots of the old types are still in circulation.

Re: My Xbox 360 got the "One Red Ring of Death" aka "E74 Error"

The folks at Microsofts are allegedly working on a newer Xbox 360 model which will feature a 65nm GPU to help ensure that the Xbox 360 requires less power and releases less heat. It's meant to be codenamed "Jasper" if you feel like Googling it. I'm tempted to wait until the next Jasper model comes out before buying another Xbox 360 for Sharon. On the plus side, however, the man from UPS will be coming later on this afternoon to pick up my broken Xbox 360 and ship it off to wherever to get it fixed. Yay!

The Falcon models were meant to contain a new central and graphics processor that were manufactured in a 65-nanometer production process though. For the same reason as that too and to cut costs... The main problems were the awful soldering jobs done on the chips themselves, caused them to peel away when they got hot, causing the red rings of death.

As the warranty was extended you should still be covered under it, especially when concerning the Red Rings Of Death (any variation). Id keep calling them and badgering them until they took it to repair it personally, even if you lie and say you have 3 red rings .

Re: My Xbox 360 got the "One Red Ring of Death" aka "E74 Error"

mine was lucky enough to recover after a day of rest. my friend was not as lucky. he sent in his 360 twice to get fixed from the RROD. Eventually they sent him a brand new one when his dad finally threatened with a lawsuit. Any United States corporation shudders at the word "sue" xD

Re: My Xbox 360 got the "One Red Ring of Death" aka "E74 Error"

idk it should be covered because i got the E-74 Problem and they fixed it for free and extended my warranty........maybe its cuz i got it less than a ****in year ago......idk but they might be getting generous

Re: My Xbox 360 got the "One Red Ring of Death" aka "E74 Error"

I have the 2 red ring problem. Aka overheat(every 10-30mins!!!!!!!!!!)Gonna go call Xbox right now actually, see if I can get this all worked out. I know I'm gonna have to send it in.

Re: My Xbox 360 got the "One Red Ring of Death" aka "E74 Error"

I started with one red ring and the XBox refusing to play DVDs but playing games, then it outright refused games, then it went to 3 rings and finally ended up with a full red ring right around, was totally out of warranty so just went and bought a new XBox tbh.

I feel your pain :'(

Re: My Xbox 360 got the "One Red Ring of Death" aka "E74 Error"

If anyone is thinking about buying a 360; the new 360 'Jasper' just came out.
It hopefully solves the rrod problem. At least it uses about 10-20 % less power and doesn't get as hot as the older models.

Here's how to spot one.

More detailed/technical info on Jasper and the rrod at AnandTech.

Re: My Xbox 360 got the "One Red Ring of Death" aka "E74 Error"

Damn, I sent it in already. Actually, about 3-4 weeks ago. If it happens again I'll just demand the "Jasper" model, and threaten to sue them. Won't do anything, but it can always help. Anway, checking out your links now.

Re: My Xbox 360 got the "One Red Ring of Death" aka "E74 Error"

Aww, that sucks...
Hopefully you don't get the rings 3 times like I did!
Best of luck to you ;)

Re: My Xbox 360 got the "One Red Ring of Death" aka "E74 Error"

that hapend to me

how did you fix it

PLEASE HELP ME

Re: My Xbox 360 got the "One Red Ring of Death" aka "E74 Error"

You're going to need to send that off to be fixed - it'll most likely need a new motherboard. It's either a loose connection or hardware fault and if you've tried taking out the cables then there's only hardware left to be the problem.

Re: My Xbox 360 got the "One Red Ring of Death" aka "E74 Error"

Lol did you know that Microsoft actually KNEW the Xbox 360 was faulty before it was released? They hoped that no one would notice =]

Yeah im sure they wanted to have to have millions of recalls pay £1bn in repair costs and have to redesign the whole layout of the circuits and replace the chipsets in there for a couple months extra on the shelves... makes perfect sense.

Well, according to several sources (here for instance - full story here. The engineer who couldn't shut his mouth was fired) Microsoft actually ignored the warnings coming from the 360 manufacturers and engineers that the new console wasn't stable (airflow problems - components overheating due to rushed engineering).

Also there were the disc scratching problems, which Microsoft is said to know about before release of the 360.

So although it might sound too stupid to be true, it kinda looks like they where more interested in beating the competition (Wii/ps3), then making a proper console. And until now, they are doing a pretty good job - it is said that 360 owners buy the most games... despite the crappy console.

I don't own a 360, but everyone I know have had theirs replaced (by MS).

Anyway; as I stated in an earlier post; look out for Jasper!!!

All that proves is that a tilting console is more likely to damage discs which is obvious and doesnt need a news article to show that. Also you should NEVER EVER EVER move a console when its turned on with disc in. I could have written that article when the very first console used discs as its painstakingly obvious.
