[Poll]:: Pride and You
A recent thread at another forum interested me, and I was curious to see peoples' responses here as well. So, what are you proud about? About yourself, your sexuality, gender, perhaps even belief? So on and forth. Please do reply as to elaborate your choices. I'm curious.
Options:
My choices are: my study, family, sexuality, clique, friends, occupation, successful status and humanity. Why? Let me elaborate -- in no specific order
1.) Study
I've always highly endorsed study. Considered study as one of the most important subjects in my personal life and do take it extremely serious. Since I was a mere young child, I dreamt of having a job one time, one which I'd be very proud of. Without proper study, chances are that you won't even reach such a goal. Of course such is not guaranteed, but having a proper diploma does increase your chances. It some times disappoints me to see people not attending to college or whatsoever simply because they want to play a game, smoke weed, or whatsoever. But then again, that was a good 7-8 years ago.
2.) My family
Yes, I love my family altogether. And damned proud of 'em, too. Specifically my mother. She always supported me, both through hard and easy times, no matter what I did; not that I did something wrong. Thus far, my family never really received disappointing comments about behaviour, general performance of matter sor whatsoever. Only positive. Yes, all of them. But, you never know what the future might bring one another. Damn proud I tell ye.
3.) Sexuality
Very proud. In-case anybody wonders, I'm bisexual. I've had no problem coming out at the age of 15; neither to my family, nor friends or teachers at school back in the days. Nor do I have any problems telling anyone about it now. In-fact, I very much like it the way I am. Sexuality, whether it be homosexual, bisexual or heterosexual, is all fine in my eyes. I dislike those who discriminate, and especially based upon sexuality.
4.) Clique
Yes, clique indeed. I'm a proud metal head and will continue to be so forever. You call it, black-, goth-, doom-, thrash-, heavy-, folk-, death metal, I listen to it gladly. Though, the ones I'd prefer would be the first three along with folk- and death metal. I tend to hang out with people who have the same interests, obviously. The majority of my friends are metal heads. Not that I don't hang out with "non-metal heads", however. It's just a matter of preference. I also do listen to classical music, but that's an exception. I don't like other genres beside said two ones.
5.) Friends
Pretty much the same story as the clique one. My friends - those I hang out with - have always been supportive in my favour, and hopefully continue to do that. But, I always considered friends mere acquaintances more so than actual friends. Because in my book, "friends" don't exist. Why? Because no single human being, as far as I care, could call him- or herself an actual friend. If things get too heavy, they leave you to rot in a corner. Obviously there are a few exceptions, but they are to be found in rare occurrences.
6.) Occupation and Successful Status
While still being a student at the UoT (University of Technology, Netherlands), I do work as to earn some money of course. I work at a company, an ICT Solutions one and so far I'm doing a great job as application developer. Success thus far, and perhaps even further in the future, granted that I won't suffer bad luck and get fired due to the economical state (either now or the future).
7.) Humanity
Some initially thought I was a misanthropist, but no I am not. I very much like humanity as a whole. There's not much more to it than that.
So, what about you?
